As always...there is a lot going on in my world. So here is a little run-down!
HOME:
We got my mother-in-law comfortably set up in her new home near us. We still have a lot of unpacking to do but we have the essentials in place and have even had dinner over there a couple of times.
We also have a dear friend from Arlington, VA coming to visit for a week. He was Todd's best friend in middle school and they haven't seen one another since he and his family moved away. I'm excited to show him around the Reno/Sparks/Tahoe area.
RUN:
I'm still struggling with pain in my heels and Achilles. Todd, however, managed to make some nice improvements on his recent work trip to CA. He even managed a couple of personal bests. And then day before yesterday his knee started popping and now he is suffering from some significant swelling and pain. He will rest and ice it for a few days and then decide whether or not a visit to his doctor is necessary. Fortunately, these good ol' bodies of ours just keep plodding along.
RECIPES:
My mother-in-law had mentioned on a couple of occasions that she had asked her care providers to make pork chops. It sounds like the attempts were pretty dismal, leathery affairs. And, to be honest, my own pork chop experience has mostly been of the Shake-n-Bake variety. So I went on-line and found a recipe that appealed to me. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Baked-Pork-Chops-I/Detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Thumb&e11=pork%20chops&e8=Quick%20Search&event10=1&e7=Home%20Page
It helps that I started with really good chops but this recipe was reasonable quick and simple and the results were fantastic! A week later and my mother-in-law is still raving about them!
BASEBALL:
It is October! Not a lot more to add to that! My two favorite teams, the Atlanta Braves and the Pittsburgh Pirates, have made it to the Division playoffs. Unfortunately they are both trailing in the best-of-five-games series. Both teams need to pull it together and get wins tonight or they are out. Fingers crossed!!
