I realize it has been almost a month since I last posted here so you can imagine something pretty wonderful drew me back.
Home - I have been quite busy selling and showing homes. My mother-in-law purchased a home not far from me and is in the process of moving here from Idaho. Her belongings are in moving company limbo. They should have arrived last week, are now scheduled for delivery tomorrow, but we haven't heard from the movers today to confirm so we're just waiting and watching a lot of bad television in the meantime.
Run - Still struggling with a bit of plantar faciitis and a very tender Achilles tendon. The treadmill platform gave out a couple of months ago and our good neighbor - who is an amazing woodworker, well overqualified for this task - built us a new and improved one which my husband installed yesterday. I will try some short runs on that to see if I can move beyond this.
Recipes - This is the "something wonderful" part so I'll come back to it.
Baseball - The Reno Aces didn't have their best year. They did, however, play some excellent ball in a beautiful venue. If you're reading this from the Reno/Sparks area and are admitting to yourself right now that you've never been to the ballpark - GO. Next year, of course. You probably wouldn't enjoy it much right now. But GO! Great baseball, great food and drink, great fans...all at great prices.
Okay. The moment you've been waiting for:
Pot roast. Really easy and delicious pot roast. This is another of those odd recipes that someone posted on Facebook that may have been pinned on Pinterest. Social media makes it tough to keep track of things at times. I just cut and pasted it to a notepad so that I could come back to it another time. Yesterday brought a little bit of fall on the air and I had a houseguest. What more could you ask for when you're already craving pot roast?! Todd threw the ingredients in the slowcooker while I was in a class (adding just one more pepper than the recipe called for) and we served it up with some salad, grilled corn on the cob, a dinner roll and some crème brulee. Let me know if you get the same excellent results!
Mississippi Roast – - Put chuck roast in crock pot, sprinkle with dry Hidden Valley ranch dressing mix and dry McCormick Au Jus mix, a stick of butter, 5 pepperoncini peppers. DO NOT ADD WATER. Cook on low for 7-8 hrs.
